August 10, 2021
First and foremost, I hope that this message finds everyone happy and healthy as the world transitions back to the - new - new - normal.
My thanks to Ryan Warrington for leading the past years board efforts, specifically launching a new website, and optimizing ISA Calgary Section marketing and administrative operations.
As many of you know, the next generation has always been near and dear to my heart. Post pandemic, I am very grateful for the privilege of being able to once again teach and lead my students face to face, and the opportunity to help facilitate industry collaboration with young professionals (it's so much easier in person).
It should come as no surprise that my main focus as your 2021/2022 President is - our youth, our future - and therefore will revolve around:
- Facilitating student to industry placement and mentorship.
- Exploring ISA sub-committee(s) recent dialog that addresses how to better fulfill the needs of our young professional members.
- Furthering efforts to seamlessly integrate students and graduates, to professional members.
- Supporting automation related student activities.
- Collaborating with other industry placement agencies at student and industry events.
- Ensuring available scholarships are known to all qualified student candidates.
Another focus for me will be our marquee event, the ISA Calgary Show taking place November 9 & 10. After having to postpone it from spring 2021, we are very much looking forward to delivering this event where thousands of automation professionals (colleagues and friends) gather. Of course, I look forward to seeing you even sooner at our 14th annual ISA Calgary Section Golf Tournament in September and Oktoberfest in October.
In closing, this year we will be cautiously optimistic as we bounce back from the restraints we’ve all faced. I genuinely look forward to, and will embrace and appreciate, the support of industry, our community and our sponsors as we move forward.
Please feel free to reach out anytime, follow us on LinkedIn or connect with me.
Best Regards,
Mark Tarrant
ISA Calgary Section President
