Hi! My name is Jasmeen Virk, I am humbled and thrilled to serve as the ISA Calgary Section President this year. I look forward to meeting you in-person at one of our upcoming events.
I would like to thank Mark Tarrant for his leadership this past year, and for optimizing the operations of the section. The board plans to continue facilitating youth industry placements by connecting students and graduates with professional members.
As I embark on this Presidential journey for the Calgary Section, I intend to focus on three principles:
Meaningful engagement
I joined ISA eight years ago. As I examine my journey over the years, the mentorship and guidance I received through ISA has been fundamental to my professional career. I would like to highlight existing opportunities ISA provides and create additional initiatives for members. This includes meaningful mentorship and networking opportunities as well as greater local industry engagement and technical training. As I focus on this segment, I’m looking forward to working alongside, Marty Bince, my fellow ISA Calgary board member, as he steps into his role as 2023 ISA HQ President this January. Check out Marty’s full story, here.
Alignment
I want to strengthen the alliance between the Calgary and Edmonton chapters – by creating synergies across Alberta we can pool our resources and collaborate on future initiatives. Not only will this partnership add value at the local level, but it will also create alignment and elevate our impact across the province.
Collaboration
I am inspired by the work of Alberta’s industry associations and am keen to build bridges for knowledge sharing and collaboration. I hope to bring ISA’s perspective to other organizations and vice versa. This would create greater networking opportunities for young professionals who are looking to immerse themselves in energy and automation.
I see these three principles being the foundation for engaging new members and building a broader community.
Thank you to all our sponsors for your generous support and engagement. We hope that you appreciate our Sponsor Stage that now lives on every page of the website. As well, a BIG thank you to our volunteer board, and ISA members!
Though I’m a Torontonian by birth – I am a Calgarian at heart. Let’s work together to make this coming term a success! Please feel free to reach out anytime, follow us on LinkedIn or connect with me.
Thank you!
Jasmeen Virk
