The ISA Calgary Section invites you to May Technical Talk: Virtual Sensors - The New Normal?
This complimentary webinar will explore how artificial intelligence is being used to either complement or replace traditional physical sensors.
Presentation Overview
Virtual sensors are becoming increasingly common as alternatives to traditional physical sensors since they can be deployed quickly, at low cost, and for applications and environments that are challenging for physical sensors. Additionally, they leverage the recent advances in artificial intelligence and machine learning that have allowed for the development of self driving cars, voice and facial recognition, and many other new technologies.
This presentation will look at virtual sensors based on computer vision algorithms, and based on analyzing the inputs from multiple physical sensors, as well as how these sensors can contribute to the control and optimization of industrial processes.
Speaker Bio
Grayson likes good books, bad movies, and strong coffee :)
Grayson has a BSc in Engineering Physics from the University of Alberta and a PhD in Materials Engineering from the University of Toronto studying electronic device physics. He was a co-founder and CTO at Pliant, an advanced materials startup founded to develop the world's lightest lithium ion batteries and is now a Product Manager at NTWIST where he helps guide the development of new artificial intelligence products for industrial applications. Grayson is fascinated by the combination of culture, technology, and timing that leads companies to build great products and make a positive impact in the world.
